Pre-save Subscriptions are a powerful way to build long-term fan relationships. When a fan pre-saves one of your releases, they can choose to subscribe—meaning future releases will be delivered to their music library automatically.
This feature helps maximize release-day engagement while reducing the need to repeatedly re-capture fan attention for every drop.
What Is a Pre-save Subscription?
A Pre-save Subscription allows a fan to opt in once and automatically receive future releases from the same artist in their preferred streaming service.
This feature is enabled by default in all Artist Workspaces and applies to all supported Pre-save services, including:
- Spotify
- Apple Music
- Deezer
- Amazon Music
- YouTube Music
- Tidal
How It Works
To deliver a new release to your pre-save subscribers, a few conditions must be met:
- You must create a Pre-release Link for each future track or album.
- Set a release date and scanning source (e.g., a DSP artist profile).
On release day, Linkfire will automatically scan for the release. If a match is found, the content is delivered to the fan’s library.
Please note: you do not need to share this pre-release link publicly. Creating and scanning it is sufficient to trigger delivery.
What the Fan Receives
When a fan opts in:
- The fan receives an automated email from Linkfire letting them know the release has been added to their library.
- The email includes a direct link to the track or album on the streaming service they subscribed with.
Fans will only receive these emails if:
- Their email address was made available by the DSP (this excludes Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube Music), or
- They submitted their email via the Email Subscription block (part of the Connect feature set) with marketing consent
Setting Up Pre-save Subscriptions
The Pre-save Subscription feature is enabled by default when a new Workspace is created.
To manage or customize it:
- Go to Workspace Settings.
- Select the Connect tab.
- Find the Pre-save Subscription block.
- You can:
- Toggle it on or off.
- Edit the fan-facing text:
- Header (default: “Get [Artist’s] Future Releases Automatically”)
- Subheader (default: “No need to presave again—new releases will be added to your library automatically. Unsubscribe anytime.”)
Click Save to confirm your changes.
Please note: text edits will revert to default if deleted. Changes only apply once the Save button is clicked.
Analytics and Tracking
You’ll be able to monitor:
- Total pre-save subscribers
- Email delivery and open rates
- Subscription conversion rates
- Engagement by channel, country, and DSP
These insights will be available in the Workspace Analytics dashboards launching with the MVP in September 2025.
Important Notes
- Pre-save Subscriptions only work through Pre-release Links.
- If a release is not scanned or matched, subscribers will not receive it.
- Subscriptions are tied to the artist, not to a single link.
- This feature is exclusive to Artist Workspaces—it is not available for regular boards.
